Hiho

Gentoo 1.4:
I did a Stage 1 install and installed a 2.6.3-gentoo-r2 kernel

I got a Internetconnection on during install and downloaded several packages and compiled them all sucessfully. But after I rebooted and smiled about the new fine working system I was wondering why the f. my internetconnection ain´t be working:
I see at the DSL-modem that he connects, and "adsl-start" also tells me that he is connected sucessfully. But neither ROOT, nore my added user can use this connection which was succesfully established!

Internet is ON but I can´t use it !
WHAT TO DO ?

Thanks for every hint, which will point me into the right direction guys!

//edit

i did the connect always with 'adsl-setup' and 'adsl-start/-stop' and it worked fine during installation but after the restart only the connection is established but i can´t use it, as it seems.

you may want to check you have the right networking support enabled in your kernel, like PPP or some adsl specific stuff. i've never used it, so i wouldn't know, however I had a strange dialup problem i never fixed where the modem would dial and connect correctly but not application could detect the internet connection. MY solution was to use KDE's KPPP dialer, but i dont think that would work for you :)
