What is easiest way to chance amd64 version to x86? Just drop stage3 to top of current system and continue from there? I am upgrading proccessor and motherboeard from Pentium D 805 to Core Duo... |

A stage 3 overwrite followed by a kernel recompile is akin to a new installation anyway.
Might as well reformat the old partitions. |

Plus, all your intalled packages would need to be recompiled, since 32 bit and 64 bit binaries are not compatible. Probably.... emerge -e system followed by emerge -e world.... Best to back up your /etc/ and /home/username/, and do a fresh re-install....you are not going to be able to use any commands if you boot from a 32-bit kernel on a 64 bit system... |

Can't format root partition, i need to save /home and /var/vdr/video. So i install according to handbook except no partitioning, just mount & rm unnecessary stuff.
Just thought if there were some fancy cross-compile option, just change make.conf and emerge world would be nice. |
