Hi..
I'm running a server with mail-mta/qmail-1.03-r16 and having problems with the mfcheck patch.
Sometimes these messages appear in /var/log/qmail/qmail-smtpd/current
Code: |
2006-05-16 08:12:27.768217500 tcpserver: status: 1/40
2006-05-16 08:12:27.768400500 tcpserver: pid 16492 from REMOTEIP
2006-05-16 08:12:28.222323500 tcpserver: ok 16492 SERVER_REVERSE_NAME:SERVER_IP:25 REMOTE_REVERSE_NAME:REMOTEIP::4256
2006-05-16 08:12:39.214034500 qmail-smtpd: invalid envelope sender: <user@REMOTE_DOMAIN> at REMOTEIP

And as far as I know these message appears because of the mfchek patch.
Here comes the problem in this, the domain is a "valid" domain and like 4 out of 5 times it works but sometimes this happens. I belive that there is a bug somewhere because the REMOTE_REVERSE_NAME is correct and is on the form of "host.REMOTE_DOMAIN", so I don't see why this should fail since it has indeed done a successfull lookup on the IP.
Right now I have disable the mfcheck to make sure our clients get there mail.
But can anyone help me figure out why this happens. It's a great feature if it works, It blocks like 10% of the mails at the door, so that's great.
I'm also running a local dnscache (djbdns) if that has anything to do with this, but I don't think that since these messages appear even before I installed the cache. _________________ After 5 hours trying to install PHP 4 on FreeBSD I missed my Gentoo machine... |
