|
|
I just installed gentoo from the 2006.0 livecd. i need to recompile the kernel for my nvidia card but there is no .config file! ls -l /usr/src/linux is empty (file does not exist). I thing the livecd uses 2.6.15-r5 but where are the kernel sources?
HELP! |

liveCD has no kernel sources, just a binary. So what you want to do is emerge gentoo-sources, and either config it yoursself or let genkernel do it for you. |

Ok well I tried to download the source but it stops because a patch cannot be found:
!!! Couldn't download genpatches-2.6.15-8.extras.tar.bz2. Aborting.
I know if I sync I won't get the same kernel...it would be a 2.6.16-something which would be different. Will this cause problems with the alsa configuration if I were to upgrade the kernel? Was alsa built into the livecd kernel? |
