|
has anyone else tried to run vmware-server-1.0.0.23869-r1 on a kernel >= 2.6.15 ?
(ebuilds from https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122500)
my virtual machines die the instant the network is started.
the error (dmesg on host-os) is as following:
Code: | skb_over_panic: text:f8b9e4f2 len:42 put:42 head:f5285a3c data:f5285a00 tail:f5285a00 end:f5285a80 dev:<NULL>

so far i tried 2.6.15-r1 and 2.6.16-r7 on two completely different machines. same crash.
but i only tried linux as guest-os.
now i am running 2.6.14-r7 and everything works fine! _________________ bill who? micro what? |

You probably installed VMware while you were on 2.6.14 and after upgrading to the newer versions of kernel never rebuilt the modules for VMware. |

i first installed on 2.6.16-r7, then went back to 2.6.15-r1 and then i unmasked 2.6.14-r7.
i rebuilt the modules for every kernel.
good point, but i'm used to vmware so that is not the problem. the modules built fine. _________________ bill who? micro what? |
