I'm having a lot of trouble with my prism3 card (D-Link DWL-650 RevP). I'm using kernel 2.6.16-gentoo-r7 with the hostAP drivers that came with the kernel (compiled and installed). I'm also using the pcmciautils-013 (I uninstalled pcmcia-cs as per this thread). After some battling, I'm finally able to get pccardctl to return a value as follows.

Output of "pccardctl ident":
Code:

Socket 0:
product info: "D-Link", "DWL-650 Wireless PC Card RevP", "ISL3710P-10", "A3"
  manfid: 0x000b, 0x7110
  function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
  no product info available

Output of "pccardctl status":
Code:

Socket 0:
  5.0V 16-bit PC Card
  Subdevice 0 (function 0) [unbound]
Socket 1:
  no card

I've been following this page to set up HostAP, but not too much luck. I downloaded the firmware for the card (prism 2), hacked the hostap_fw_load script as directed, and I ran "hostap_fw_load wlan0" and got the following error:
Quote:

Host AP driver data for device wlan0 not found in procfs.

So I checked dmesg when I insert the card, and I get nothing more than "pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0" and nothing else.

I know, at least, that it's not (yet) a firmware issue. It can't even attempt to load the firmware as it can't find the card. The thing that really gets annoying is the fact that I've had this very same card working on this very same laptop almost 6 months ago. But I had to reinstall the system, and I can't get it working.

Does anyone know why my card is not showing up in procfs? Is there some crucial step I may have missed? Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for a way the hostap module (from gentoo sources kernel) runs fine in my laptop. Linux loads hostap_cs module correctly but wlan0 interface doesn't appear in anywhere.

¿Anyone has idea?
