|
|
Hi all,
I recently installed mpd on some spare hardware (running gentoo, of course) to serve audio to various remote clients throughout my house. The problem is that when I select a song to play the audio plays on the server's speakers and not the client that is invoking the commands.
mpd.conf is as follows:
Code: | port "6060"
music_directory "/var/music/library"
playlist_directory "/var/music/mpd/playlists"
log_file "/var/log/mpd.log"
error_file "/var/log/mpd.error.log"
db_file "/var/music/mpd/database"
state_file "/var/music/mpd/state" |
and I've used both the gmpc and ncmpc clients to the same end.
Any ideas? |

I could be way off base, but I thought that's what mpd was designed to do. You hook a box up to a nice stereo system or the like and can control from different computers. If you wanted to stream to clients don't you have to use the icecast features of mpd? |

MPD is designed to play music through the serverspeakers with remote control over the network.
http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Configuration gives you a howto for streaming it with Icecast. |
