Hello
1) I'd like to know the main differences between DRI and DirectFB ?
2) To enable running DirectFB application, do I have to enable it during kernel compilation?
3) Does XFree 4.3.0-r1 support XDirectFB? If so, is there any configuration to set?
Thanks _________________ Toshiba Tecra 8200

Hmmmmmmm by searching a bit I found out that XDirectFB is an XServer:
XDirectFB is a rootless X Server using DirectFB windows for X11 toplevel windows. This way you can adjust the opacity of every application with your mouse wheel (while holding Meta down over a window). http://www.directfb.org
To allow the use of DirectFB one should enable Frame buffer device support in kernel compilation.
Both DRI and DirectFB use Hardware Acceleration of Graphic cards. DirectFB looks more an API then a driver ( which DRI is ), and DirectFB supports of Software fallbacks when a Graphic operation is not supported by hardware. I don't if there are many applications that supports DirectFB?
Any other explanations welcomed _________________ Toshiba Tecra 8200
