ipw2200 drivers, problems, why only one version in portage?

looking through the forums i have noticed that this driver causes a lot of problems. there is only one version of this buggy driver in portage (namely 1.1.2-r1). on another laptop i have version 1.0.10 of this driver and it seems to work better, but i have already emerged sync on that laptop so that only ebuild i have there is 1.1.2-r1 as well. i searched the net for this ebuild but could not find it anywhere out there? does anybody know where i can find the ebuild for ipw2200-1.0.10?

on another note, i really wish the developers would not remove old ebuilds of drivers that are known to be buggy.

Hey mate,
I'm running the ipw2200-1.1.2-r1 firmware from the portage on my IBM T43p without any problems...

But if you're looking for older drivers, just try this page

yeah, i have two laptops with the same card. one is giving me a lot of trouble and the other one has been perfect. i don't get it really. anyways, i wanted to avoid getting the sources for myself.

i understand the devs wanting to remove old ebuilds, i guess i think it is not such a good idea with something like ipw2200 since it seems to give a lot of people a lot of problems.
