Anyone had any luck getting Oblivion running? I would prefer vanilla wine but would like to hear if anyone has it working in cedega also. I've read various hit and miss reports of people getting it working in ubuntu, but I haven't had any of their suggestions work for me as of yet. |

It's quite heavily tied into DirectX isn't it? That'll probably cause the biggest headache, but given some people have had success, at least it is possible.
Edit: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=4596&iTestingId=3067 this one has the most luck, so follow his advice. _________________ Desktop: AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice Core, 2GB PC3200, 2x160GB 7200rpm Maxtor DiamondMax 10, 2x320GB WD 7200rpm Caviar RE, Nvidia 6600GT 256MB

I'd be delighted if transgaming started supporting this game, but I'd be very surprised if it didn't chug along.
This game is a huge resource hog and can run choppy on a decent system even on its native windows environment.
It's still a fantastic game though. |

Hi!
I havent try it... and i will no atvertise transgaming. But i read that Oblivion runs with cedega 5.2!
BUT it just work with... somthing like a plugin: "oldoblivion". Go to Transgaming.com to read the full Story ;)
The Picturs of oldblivion are not so colourful, but with this you can play Oblivion fast, and with an old Geforce 3...
Maybe i wait .. and buy the game later at ebay ;) Or a cheap Original-Version in the supermarket.

I'd appreciate it if someone reports on running the game under Cedega 5.2, including hardware specs, thanks! _________________ python>>> q="'";s='q="%c";s=%c%s%c;print s%%(q,q,s,q)';print s%(q,q,s,q)

Oh, thanks, screenshots look nice btw.
I wonder how it will perform on my GF4 Ti 4200. _________________ python>>> q="'";s='q="%c";s=%c%s%c;print s%%(q,q,s,q)';print s%(q,q,s,q)

Very very badly to be perfectly honest. |

Hey... don't quote me with that one. I didn't say it.
The whole point of Oldblivion is too alow older video cards to play the game. If you look at the oldblivion website all the screenshots on there are taken with a GeForce 3 Ti500 _________________ Gentoo Gaming Videos |

The GF3 Ti 500 (replacing the Ti 200)was the highest end video card of it's day -- the GF4 4200 Ti, while obvoiously a newer card, wasn't created to compete with it... That was the GF4 4600Ti's job.
Then again, the only way to know is to try it and find out.
Atleast it's not an MX series card. |

While the Ti 500 was the highest end of the GF3's (which was a short lived version of the GeForce containing the Ti200 and the Ti500) the Ti4200 contains newer technology (as far as Directx support and such.) The problem with Oblivion is not so much the processing power (though it obviously likes it) but the technologies it uses. I had a 4600 btw and it was a sweet card. _________________ Gentoo Gaming Videos |

There are many reports on the Oldblivion forums of people happily running the game with a card like mine, so I guess it's playable under Windows.
I took the plunge and tried it under Cedega, but unfortunately I get an "unhandled exception" message when I try to launch the game, I couldn't find a solution as of yet. _________________ python>>> q="'";s='q="%c";s=%c%s%c;print s%%(q,q,s,q)';print s%(q,q,s,q)
