hi guys,
according to xgl howto I put into /usr/kde/3.5/share/config/kdm/Xstartup
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib compiz gconf &
everything is ok but after some time "my" compiz is being killed and automagically run by kdeinit:
compiz --replace decoration wobbly fade minimize cube rotate zoom scale move resize place switcher
i'd like to know how come kdeinit re-runs compiz and how to disable that strage thing...
thanks

Can you point out where the XGL howto is? I've hunted around and can't find it
Is it a relatively easy process to follow for a mediocre user? |

http://gentoo-wiki.com/XGL
I am a noob and was able to ge this running
although i wouldn't say it was easy "for me",
but i would say MOST of the installation problems
have been addressed in the forum.
I made good use of the thread search feature. _________________ Core i7 920 D0 | Asus P6T DLX | Patriot Viper 1600 6GB | Antec Quattro 850W

Thanks Jupiter. Just at the moment I am so completely lost with the whole damn thing. I mean I use Windows solidly for a few months then I find 3d desktops, this XGL stuff, true transparency all has come out. To an eye-candy whore like me, I'm so annoyed at myself! Now I'm trying to pick up for a while, and I've got idea where to start. Hell, I don't even know how to add hardware support on my ati card yet to play et |
