I finally succeded in going trough the installation procedure for Gentoo, but when I boot for the first time, I get this error message:
Code: | EXT2-fs: ide0(3,9): couldn't mount because of unsupported optional features (4).
XFS: bad magic number
XFS: SB validate failed
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root on 03:09 |
My question is, what does this means? For the record, my root partition is ext3 on /dev/hda9.

What parameters are you passing to the kernel at boot time? Also, what is your /etc/fstab? |

I just fixed my problem!!!
I recompiled my kernel with support for my via chipset and ext3 in the kernel instead as modules and it worked!
Now if only I could get X to work...
Thanks anyway _________________ Imposible is a word used far too often by humans |

Actually I found the Gentoo Linux kernel (2.4.19-xx) quite unstable. It had crashed for a few times and then I switched to the RH kernel and the system was happy since then.
