The last time I built a machine, I was only aware of 20 pin motherboards. I just ordered an ASUS ATX Mobo, plugged the 20 pin connector where it belonged, and moved on with my life. Now, I'm working on putting together a server at my work, and am mildly confused by what's happened.

Almost all of the mobos I now look at, even MicroATX ones (don't worry, those weren't considered for the server) are 24 pin. That worried me a bit, but then I saw that all power supplies are 20+4 pins, and I remembered seeing that awkward square connector that I never knew what to do with. Then we found the motherboard we wanted (a TYAN) and I got a little confused. It has the 24 pins AND an additional 8pin connector. Now, I found a 4->8 converter... but then what fills the extra holes on the big 24 pin connector?

If someone could shed some light on what I'm supposed to do with the extra 8 pins, I'd greatly appreciate it :P
