When playing back a dvd with xcompmgr running, the video is overlayed on top of all other windows. is there a way to get around this?
i'm using the latest nvidia drivers, a monolothic x.org (6.8, i think, i'm not at the box atm), and it occurs whether i'm using xine, mplayer or anything else.
thanks for the help! _________________ ...dig me

I don't understand the "video is overlayed on top of all other windows". If it means that all you see is a blue screen, I used transset to set it opaque. I added it to my fluxbox menu. |

i mean that if i have a dvd playing, and i drag a window over mplayer/xine/kaffiene/etc, the top-most window does not cover the video, the video (and only the video, not the window decorations or other widgets of the player), is always on top.
Let's see if my ascii art skills can represent:
Code: |
+===========+
|TOP WINDOW |
| |======+
| +----------+|
| | video ||
| +----------+|
| | |
+-----------+ |
| player |
+------------+
|
The TOP WINDOW should be on top, partially covering the video and the player. It partially covers the player, but the video always appears as the topmost element.
i think i'll try a different video output driver when I get home, which seems promising. _________________ ...dig me

I understand now. Unfortunately/fortunately I have not experienced this on my machines. |

the video output driver was the right place to look. i switched from the "default" to xshm and it seemed to fix everything right up. _________________ ...dig me
