|
|
Hi all,
I'm just installing Gentoo using the 2006.0 LiveCD and GLI. It's been a while since I touched a "virgin" system, but it had to be ...
I noticed that I cannot set the LINGUAS-option during installation, however it has to be set before compiling such packages as kdelibs, openoffice, firefox and the like. It shouldn't be too hard to add an option to set it and it would be really nice for all of us "strangers" speaking other languages than english.

These sorts of suggestions are better suited to https://bugs.gentoo.org |

Hi.
If I'm not misteaken and I understood you correctly, there's only one problem with your suggestion. At least if you use the networkless install method with GLI, it doesn't compile your packages, it simply copies the content of the cd into your new system. As I doubt the cd includes localization support, it won't be possible to add that support until you compile your packages. _________________ Jorge.

You're right, if you're using the networkless installation then it won't matter. But in my case I didn't want to recompile everything over and over and have to attend to the computer every hour. I wanted to just install all needed packages in one turn.
I filed a "bug" report and marked it as an enhancement. |
