Hello!
I'm setting up a mythtv box. I have a Pinnacle PCTV tv tuner. The audio hooks up w/ a loopback cable, from the tv tuner card to the mic input on the sound card.

This results in much oddity - The sound is a full second before the video, and continues when i close mythtv.

Is there a better way to hook things up / set things up?

Sounds like you might have your settings wrong in alsamixer.

Master and PCM are both about 60%
"Surround Jack Mode" is set at "Shared"
"Line" is at 90%
"Mic Select" is at "Mic1"
"IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA" is at 100
Via DXS[0-4] are at 100
It's in 2 channel mode
"Downmix" is off
"Input Source Select" is set to "Input1"
Everything else muted or at 0.

Is something wrong there?

What version of mythtv are you running?

Also, try this -- turn off automatic transcoding and see if an recorded file is in sync or not.

It's version "media-tv/mythtv-0.19_p9163-r1"

Transcoding dosn't matter - it occurs when i "Watch TV" too.

Actually, I don't think myth is getting the audio at all.

The recordings i just made as a test have no sound.

How am I supposed to set things so that Myth gets the audio, instead of it just playing becuase it's being fed into my line-in jack?

Following the Myth docs for the command line worked best for me:

Wow, that fixed everything!

Thanks a bundle - really, I doubt i'd have figured that out. I think it was because Alsamixer, by default, only really deals with the "playback" settings, not the capture ones.

*Happily plays with his mythtv*

Yeah- I don't like following manuals verbatim, but after I struggled with getting the settings perfect for a couple days I gave it a try out of desperation :D
