cpu frequency scalling:internal piii table patch avaliable?

hello i have a piii
with frequency scalling i have 700 and 1000 MHz avaliable
but i can't read a dvd silently without the fan going on at 700MHz
is it possible not to use the bios table and use a in-kenrel table in order to add some frequencies such as 600MHz or 500 or even less?

there is a patch for Athlon Xp for the moders that eneable the speed-step on desktop computers
