I'm looking into buying either the cable co's DVR service for $10/mo, or TiVO, although it's $17/mo with tivo.
Are there any other set-top box options, I know of mythtv, but I need something the entire family can use with a remote on the TV that is easy to setup.
Any recommendations? _________________ Woof, Woof! Add "[solved]" to the title! Woof, Woof! |

I'm not sure if you know, but MythTV works with a remote. So that solves the "works with remote issue". Once you set it up, everyone else in the family should be able to use it.
As for other boxes, not sure... sorry I can't offer much help there. _________________ me |

Can it work via the tv as the video device, or do I have to have a laptop/desktop nearby. I'm looking for mythtv solution, but something that is easy to use from the couch, without having to login from my computer.
I did some more research, and it seems most boxes charge a monthly service fee for full support, or replaytv which has a $300 one-time fee.
I may end up just going with the cable company's $10/month box. the last thing I want to do is have to debug and fiddle with recording a show _________________ Woof, Woof! Add "[solved]" to the title! Woof, Woof! |
