hi all,
i had an ati radeon 7500 which i just replaced with a Geforce FX 5200.
tired of ati's crappy support. anyways, i downloaded the drivers before
swapping out the card, now i have swapped out the card (and foolishly
lent it away already) but when i went to install the nvidia drivers, i
got errors because something wasn't in my kernel. its late, i cant
recall the exact wording. i am recompiling my kernel now in hopes that
i fixed it. anyway, needless to say, kde won't boot. i am posting
using w3m, which is, um, clunky to say the least. (first time using it
though) so my question is (finally): do i need to do something other
then *successfully* run the nvida drivers to get KDE to work? are there
any major steps i am missing? or tricks to getting the drivers to
install?
thanks everyone,
BF |

1) did u run "xf86config"
2) if u did, make sure u edit /etc/X11/XF86Config ( read the nvidia docs on gentoo.org)
3) emerge nvidia-kernel & emerge nvidia-clx
4) try #nvidia on irc.freenode.net |
