Hi,
I've setup a desktop machine with gentoo on it. I'd like to get rid of the delay after failed logins (yes I'm a sloppy typist). I've tried changing FAIL_DELAY to 0 or 1 in /etc/login.defs, and even commenting it out but this doesn't doesn't have any effect.
How can I get rid of the delay?
I know it's a small thing, but it sure does bug me.

If using PAM login.defs is ignored.
To remove the delay after username/password errors, you can edit the
/etc/pam.d/system-auth file. Add the option "nodelay" to the line:
"auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_unix.so ..." |
