is there any dvd version of the gentoo which can i download ? i didnt care about latest packages.....
but i dont have internet for the full time...limited bandwidth internet with six hour unlimited download which is at night.
WHAT IS THE SIZE OF DISTFILES FOLDER ? if i want to download all the package ? 
and i am frequent formatter so i need some backup so that whenever i want to install gentoo i didnt have to wake up all the night......

erm... you don't really need the entre portage tree to install gentoo.
just get the minimal installation cd and follow the handbook.  |

Last time I checked, a typical Gentoo mirror was about 50GB. This doesn't even include source code for 100% of the packages since some packages are not supposed to be mirrored (because of license restrictions).

You can use emerge with the --fetchonly option to download source packages overnight, and then compile them later.
Examples :
| Code: | # emerge -ef system
... later
# emerge -e system |
| Code: | # emerge --sync && emerge -uDf world
... later
# emerge -uDN world |

why formatting?
to get a basic gentoo system just download the live cd. it contains the most common packages...
