|
|
I use tilda as my casual terminal (Terminal for any real work). It's modeled on the quake/doom terminal but uses F1 as the default show/hide key. I like it because a terminal is always a key press away (and it hides with the same key).
I've tried making it transparent (real transparency using composite extension) wilth transset-df by issuing Code: | $ transset-df -n tilda 0.8 | and it works and looks good (in my opinion). But every time I hide and show the terminal it goes back to fully opaque and I have to re-issue the above command.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could automatically apply transset to any window with the name tilda and have it apply to any new windows too? (I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm using xfce4.4_beta1)
Thanks,

I think I've found a solution with transd, compiling now. _________________ Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities. --Voltaire |

i didn't know the answer to your question, but i was interested.
tell us if it works...
(hey, that guy is the maintainer of xfdesktop. maybe soon xfce will get a "which windows are how transparent" setting) |

Sorry it took so very long for me to reply, I guess I just forgot about this post.
Anyway, transd is working great. Just run: Code: | svn co http://kelnos.spuriousinterrupt.org/svn/brian/transd/trunk transd | Read the README for compiling and configuration instructions. Here's my ~/.config/transd/rules.rc Code: | [transd-global-config]
[Tilda]
transd-ALL=85 |
I've also had to start using devilspie as XFCE4.4beta2 tries to move tilda a few pixels away from the top panel. Here's a screenshot of the final product (The right third of the screen is displayed on a TV). _________________ Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities. --Voltaire |
