Open submenu's to the left

Submenu's open to the right in my KDE 3.5 installation. Even when the base menu is on the right edge of the screen, submenu's will try to open as much to the right as possible. This will hide some of the base menu behind the submenu. I'd like submenu's to open to the left if the base menu is too much to the right. Windows XP does it that way too. How can I accomplish this?
