Hi

To your information:

We had a problem installing gentoo in a screen environment (make menuconfig did nothing because the ncurses interface didn't start)
nano didn't work, too:

Code:

(chroot) livecd / # nano
Error opening terminal: screen.linux.

The problem was that the term environ is on default set to "screen.linux". You can fix this by entering:

export TERM="screen"
