I reciently had a corruption of a partion so ended up reinstalling gentoo. Everything is pretty much installed but I'm having a problem with modular X. I emerged xorg-x11 however it keeps failing with:
---snippet: ---
/usr/include/gentoo-multilib/amd64/unistd.h:935:29: macro "getpagesize" passed 1 arguments, but takes just 0

Thing is I don't need wacom driver. The only imput/device things I need are: acecad, mouse, keyboard, and nvidia.(perfer it over nv) Before my last install had a corruption of "/" ufed seemed to have USE Flags that were for those items. Now it doesn't and it wants to install *all* input and video drivers. I don't need them all and I just want X to work right. Yes I'm using X right now but it's not redrawing properly. That is because xorg-x11 calls xorg-server and it didn't fully install. Also xorg-server apprently doesn't like my nvidia-glx. Because it will tell me they conflict. Which means I have to uninstall xorg-server then install nvidia-glx and then it tries to install xorg-server after emerging nivida-glx. But then dies on that wacom compile.
Is there any way around this? I did read the xorg-server ebuild. It didn't help me. I did go to the gentoo handbook and lookup the bit on X and I didn't notice anything there to deal with this.(but then I'm sleepy and have been fighting computer issues for 3 days on 2 systems... dying psu on the other and also dead drive on this one)
Help please! Thanks in advance. |

Have you set INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse acecad" and VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia vesa" in your make.conf?
I always add vesa support, just incase nvidia borks.
I just had the problem with xorg-server blocking nvidia-glx. Just emerge nvidia-glx, then xorg-server, then use eselect to set the opengl driver back to nvidia. _________________ I'm not as think you confused I am!!! |

Nope I didn't set them there. I didn't see a spot to set them. Though I know they have overhauled the make.conf a few times changing features. It used to be under the general 'USE=' but now it doesn't give that option if I read use.desc or use ufed. Which puzzled me because I thought geez I could set it before why not now? So thanks I'll go fiddle with it. I'm also having weird redraw problems.(for example I can't read the text on the two buttons below this entry box. Some message boards I can't read the thread subject post or your post at first appeared blank til I highlighted it). If they persist I'll give redhat a try. |
