|
|
Ok, i own lg lm50 laptop, processor is pentium m - 1.6.
For a past 6-7 months i was warking on gentoo 2005.0 with 2.6.11 kernel, and cpu freq scalling was working exellent.
And about 5 days ago i have emerged a new kernel ( 2.6.16.16 to be precise).
And suddenly cpu freq scalling crashes.
The problem is that:
When i try modprobe acpi-cpufreq.ko it says
lm50 arek # modprobe acpi-cpufreq
FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq (/lib/modules/2.6.16-gentoo-r7/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko): No such device
And this:
lm50 arek # /etc/init.d/cpufreqd start
* cpufreqd requires the kernel to be configured with CONFIG_CPU_FREQ
I have CONFIG_CPU_FREQ in kernel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what is wrong ? I have spend 5 days trying to solve this mystery and i have fail.
I think this new kernel is worth as shi* .
Anyone have any suggestions ?
lm50 arek # dmesg |grep ACPI

Yeah, And also this:
lm50 arek # cpufreq-info
cpufrequtils 001: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2006
Report errors and bugs to linux@brodo.de, please.
analyzing CPU 0:
no or unknown cpufreq driver is active on this CPU |

I have had the same problem.
my solution was to just compile it into the kernel _________________ Dont make it idiot proof, make it work.
