Hi !

I'm having problems with ALSA.
Something must be wrong in my conf but I don't know what.
Because I can hear sound in mplayer/alsaplayer but I can't select sound sink in gstreamer-properties and I'm having error messages such as "[AO ARTS] can't connect to aRts soundserver".

For example, if I try to run alsad I have this output :
Quote:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:862:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (Device or resource busy)

=> I can hear the music again, but still this error !

I also have a Hauppauge PVR-350 and I can see TV without sound.
If I record the TV, I can then play it back ... with sound !
I don't understand. Is it the same problem or a alsamixer problem ?
I guess I'm not far from the result but don't know what to do.

A few extra info :
I'm using a via82xx as a kernel module.

I'm completly lost !
Thanks for any help.

I forgot to add that in gstreamer-properties, In Audio tab I can't select OSS or ALSA which do not appear.
I remember having those under a working Ubuntu 5.10 linux distro.
