Maybe i understand nothing but i wonder about unpacking kdegraphics-3.1.1.bz2 when wanting to update to 3.1.1a...

Has anyone a brilliant idea to solve this ? Thanx ! :?

No, the unpacking went fine. As you see it unpacks 3.1.1 and then applies the patches from 3.1.1a.diff.
The problem is in the configure, where is stumbles over an unrecognized option in autom4te. I suggest to do what it actually says and read
Code:
/usr/bin/autom4te-2.54 --help

Yeah, I did the whole '--help' thing last night - still get the same error
In all seriousness though, all that told me was there was no option for --cache...

Where is this fixed and how - just take the option off?

TIA
Geo

Well I do see a
Code:
-C, --cache=DIRECTORY preserve results for future runs in DIRECTORY

in the manual of autom4ke. I would try to re emerge m4 first then if it still does not work, you may want to try configurin the package manually (do a ./configure in the place where kde-3.1.1graphics got unzipped). At least you will know wether or not it comes from sources.

Thanx for your help, but it is still broken.
I don't think it comes from the sources. I tried to generate the ./configure with autoconf and it works. Could it come from an ebuild script ?
I looked in the ebuild of kde-3.1.1a, and nothing seems to be wrong. I'm a bit lost...

Got it going.

Turns out I had about 3 versions installed, and 54 had no option for --cache.

After an etc-clean, I was left with 57, which DID have --cache, so I created a soft link to it by the name of 54 (prob. not the best out, but so be it), and all is good.

Thanks again!
Geo

I tried an
Code:
emerge clean
but it tells me that nothing has to be removed, even if I have two versions of autom4te (and 4 of automake !).
So I did what you said : i deleted autom4te-2.54, made a soft link from autom4te-2.57 to autom4te-2.54 and it seems to work. Thanx a lot !
:P :P

Well, I'm glad that worked for you - just to make sure that you did this on your own accord, and that there was no arm twisting by me, in case anything flubs because of your deletion in the future
