Hi, has the Half-Life dedecated server support for machines with more than one CPU? Or do I have to run 2 HLDS_Ls on one machine to use both CPUs? |

Well, no. hlds_l is a single processor using game server. If you've two processors hlds_l still uses no more. It runs sequencely not parallel (multi processing).
It may be that he uses 50% of cpu#0 and 50% of cpu#1 or even 100% of cpu#0 but then 0% of cpu#1.
Even if halflife was derived from quake2 it still introduced some disadvantages quake2 didn't have. quake2 was able to be run on more than the win32 platform.
Cheers,
Christian Parpart.
p.s.: starting two processes of hlds_l, of course, would now enforce that both cpu are beeing used. But keep in mind that you now have two independant HalfLife server available on that box. |

not really just give it a different server.cfg.... that's it. but it really depends on your own - that means: what your fits are to the both server processes ... |
