Doesn't crash here... 3.5.3.

Might it be that for those that it crashes you miss a plugin of some sort? I've noticed earlier that my konq crashed when I missed the flash plugin on pages that used it...

For me konqueror (3.5.3) doesn't crash on 'microsoft.com'.

It seems to me that it is a CFLAGS issue, see http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123791

Try to recompile kdelibs with '-O2' instead of '-Os' , restart kde to reload all the libs
and check if konqueror still crashes for you on 'microsoft.com'

Regards,
hothead

When firing it up from the console with 'konqueror http://micro$oft.com' it crashes.

Trying to load it from gdb with that argument, and it WORKS!!

Almost as if someone just doesn't want this particular bug traced ^^

Confirmed. No issues unless started from command line. (-O2)

For me it also crashes... but only for the first time. If I try to reenter microsoft.com everything works. Weird, really. I'm using Konq 3.5.3 with -O2 flag.

Doesn't work for me (crashes every time). I'm using Konqueror 3.5.2 with KDE 3.5.2 on i686 with -O2.

What other CFLAGS is everyone else using? Is anyone else distributing compilation? Perhaps that has something to do with it...

Update: At one point, Konqueror had the basic page layout loaded, but crashed before it could display any images or text, so I had some blue boxes in the browser for a split second before the crash occurred. Judging from that and the slight delay before the crash occurs, I'm thinking maybe either Microsoft is misusing some part of HTML/CSS, Konqueror's implementation of some obscure feature is broken, or a combination (Microsoft misuses the part that Konquerer mis-implements). Knowing Microsoft, I'd say the former is far more likely :lol:

well doodes, its pretty useless to discuss here further.
it is a problem the KDE doodes might have to fix.
so we should bother them - it is not a gentoo problem.

anyway:
Code:

CFLAGS="-O3 -march=k8 -mtune=k8 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ftracer -msse3"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

nothing fancy in there.

[quote=lithium3141]Update: At one point, Konqueror had the basic page layout loaded, but crashed before it could display any images or text, so I had some blue boxes in the browser for a split second before the crash occurred. Judging from that and the slight delay before the crash occurs, I'm thinking maybe either Microsoft is misusing some part of HTML/CSS, Konqueror's implementation of some obscure feature is broken, or a combination (Microsoft misuses the part that Konquerer mis-implements). Knowing Microsoft, I'd say the former is far more likely :lol:[/quote]

Someone should try out a 'doze box and see it it crashes IE :)

[hey, its just as possible. They could have a script kill an out-dated version of IE to force you to update. Think about it!]

Seems to me it's related to Konq 3.5.x:

- Crashes on: Konqueror 3.5.2 on KDE 3.5.2 (x86_64)
- Runs fine on: Konqueror 3.4.3 on KDE 3.4.3 (x86)

Kind regards

Hi all,

I'm running 686, have -O2 in my cflags, and am running konqueror 3.5.2, and, yes, microsoft.com crashes on me. In addition, some news stories on cnn.com crash, too.

Best,

Alex

I can also confirm a crash with KDE 3.5.2 on i686-32 (Prescott specific code) with Os optimisation.

Does it still crash if you disable all active content?

JavaScript seems to be the culprit, yabbadabbadont. Flash/Java plugins didn't behave strangely even with JavaScript disabled.
