Last week I installed (my first) Gentoo using the Gentoo 1.1a stage 1 ISO and the Gentoo 1.2 tarball, which required some improvisation but worked out fine.
Now I'd like to be able to determine the Gentoo version actually installed, for the purpose of allowing a script to see on what linux-distro it's running.
Is there an official way like RedHat: /etc/redhat-release and Slackware: /etc/slackware-version?
I haven't been able to find this info in the docs, on the site or in the forums, but I might have missed something. |
