Ethernet Order

I'd like to know how to get the system to load up my ethernet cards in the order I want. Eg. having specific cards boot as eth0, eth1, eth2, etc...
The reasoning is that I have my NICs as modules right now and when I switch them to be built into the kernel they load in a totally different order.
