I believe I have tried something to that extent but just to make sure, how would you go about doing this?
as in my Monitor's refresh rates are Horizontal is 30 - 85 and Vertical is 50 - 160 What should I put into my Xorg.conf?

After putting that into my Xorg.conf All i get is a box floating around on my monitor saying Sync. Out of Range.
and an Xorg.0.log that says

Lets do some sums to see what sort of resolution you can expect from a 4Mb graphics card.

First xorg will use double buffering so it can draw one image, while you look at another. That increases the size of the pixel buffer by two.
This means that you have at most, 2Mb for a single pixel buffer.
You have selected 16 bits per pixel (2 bytes), Code: | (**) ATI(0): Depth 16, (--) framebuffer bpp 16 | so your card can accomodate at most 1M pixels at that resolution. Thats a top limit, the card needs some space for its own things too. 1M pixels would be 1024x1024, so you should get 1024x768 without a great deal of effort.

Just after that are some strange mode definitions, but 1024x768 is not mentioned, even though you have a created a Modeline. Its a standard VESA mode, so a modeline should not be required.
In your xorg.conf Section "Screen" remove the references to "1280x1024". You can probably get the graphics card to do that at 8 bit colour but lets make it work at 16 bit colour first. Also comment out the in your Section "Monitor". Xorg will use its built in modes.
24 bit color modes actually use 32 bits per pixel, the why is a long story but you can only fit 500k Pixels in this mode. Thats 800x600 max.
Once we can get it away from its safe fallback of 640x480, we can try other colour depths and turning off the double buffering so you can decide if you can live with the viisual artifacts you get when xorg draws in the pixel buffer you are watching.
Post back with your results and the updated log if its still not working. _________________ Regards,

Update:
I got it to recognize 800X600 with 56 hertz now...Which of course gives me a headache but is progress nonetheless.
Either way to do this I had to turm my h and v down to 40 and 60 respectively. This just isn't acceptable though...I am going to turn them up but something doesn't work out right in my head because I know on a normal radeon I had this monitor running 1600X1200 with 80 hz...
New Update:
Ok interesting thing just came up
I changed the syncs to Code: |

Just to test something, I plugged it into a new monitor...this one tells me what is acctually being pushed out to it...So when I type gdm I get a display saying it is H 141 V 175 So the main thing there is it is pushing out a 141 Horizontal rate when it shouldn't be able to go above 85. So The plot thickens.

You are using in xorg.conf at the moment.
In your log, the ATI driver outputs a list of supported cards as it starts but your Mach64 isn't there. Its possible that the ati driver doesn't support it and is therfore setting it up incorrectly.
I'm not sure if the vesa driver works on PPC, but its worth trying. _________________ Regards,

So after some research it looks as though it is a known bug with X and the mach64's in older Mac's
I tried using Fbdev with some really weird results...Those being it only would run in 8 bit at 1280x1024 and the colors looked...well inverted.
I now have it running the ATI driver again and my refresh is said to be really low but it's acctually almost maxing out my monitor...and I can only turn it to 800x600
Also adding Code: | Option "MonitorLayout" "CRT, NONE" | to the device section of my xorg.conf got rid of the flicker and also some artifacts I was starting to get.
