I've got a 3com 3CRWE154G72 wireless card that I can't figure out how to get running. I've read all posts on the forum, and none seen to adress my issue. The system is running Gentoo-Hardened 2.6.14_r8. The 3com card is the version 1.0 card, which as far as I get things should be able to run natively withougt ndiswrapper.
I've done the lot as far as kernel configuration goes (I think...), am using the 1.0.4.3 firmware from prism54.org. I see the interface both through iwconfig and ifconfig with the correct MAC-adress and all. However, when bringing the interface up by ifconfig eth0 up the LED's on the card comes to life for lets say 30 secs just to turn off after that. Using iwconfig after this to set, for example ESSID and channel bears no effect, the settings are not applied to the card.
Has anyone experieced anything similar with this card ? It runs sween in W*dows, so apparently the hardware should be OK. Any ideas are greatly appreciated, this really bugs me... |

well, most of the times firmwares aren't freely distributed,
i would just google for it.
what's 'dmesg' saying when you load card modules?
how 'lspci' recognizes it? |

Output from dmesg:
eth0: resetting device...
eth0: uploading firmware...
eth0: firmware version: 1.0.4.3
eth0: firmware upload complete
eth0: interface reset complete
eth0: prism54_set_txpower() auto power will be implemented later.
eth0: prism54_set_txpower() auto power will be implemented later.
eth0: islpci_close ()
Abbreviated lspci:
06:00.0 Network controller: 3Com Corporation 3com 3CRWE154G72 [Office Connect Wireless LAN Adapter] (rev 01)
As far as I can tell, all look good. Weird one, I'll google another firmware up and try it out. I'll let you know of the outcome. Oh, by the way - what firmware did you use for yours to solve your issue ? |

mine was a different one, it was intel 2200bg pro, can't tell the fw revision number now, but anyways it won't match your hardware. |
