Anything directed by Terry Gilliam. Brazil is a fantastic movie, as is 12 monkeys - IMHO Gilliam went on to do the best work out of all the ex-monty-python people.
You could also try Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by the same director, but leave it until you've read the book please.
Of course, if you really want to show off the visual power of your DVD system, get Rintaro's Metropolis - Very indirectly based on the original 1927 movie by Fritz Lang... Actually it's based on a japanese comic that was based on the movie. - I got this movie imported from japan before the English version came out, and watched it over and over without being able to understand any of the dialogue. It was still highly entertaining. Lovely to look at.
Finally... Someone wrote: aja wrote: | (6) Akira (get the new, re-translated, version) | I dunno... I'd say get the original if you can. The dialogue in the retranslated version seems much more dumbed-down for a mainstream audience. IMHO The original was much more subtle and had better voice-acting. _________________ "Pokey, are you drunk on love?"

worst movie ever!
I like the lord of the rings, american pie (lol, it sucks), necronomicon (a lil' bit trash, but funny) and some brazilian movies... i lost few titles in my mind.. rofl
ahn... hmm... my friend posted me "The Day After".. I shall be receiving it in the next few days... he said that The Day After just rocks.. |
I guess you didn't see "The Cheerleader Massacre" (no guys, it's no porn, but makes as much sense as the average porn movie)
Oh, PI is really a great movie, I'd recommend that one too. It's black-and-white (although made in the end 90s) but that really adds to the atmosphere. _________________ if only I could fill my heart with love... |

Being There staring Peter Sellers. It'll blow your mind. _________________ "An empty head is not really empty; it is stuffed with rubbish. Hence the difficulty of forcing anything into an empty head."
