prompt in konsole not displayed properly ONLY when ...

The prompt in konsole displayes fine when I click on the icon or select it in the "K" menu. But when I use konqueror and I try to use the keyboard shortcut "CTRL - T" to open a konsole in the current directory I get the famous bash-2.05b$ prompt. I've looked around a bit in the configuration settings for konqueror and can't seem to find a place where this action is defined ( so I could maybee tell it to use the --ls option when it runs ) but can't seem to find it anywhere. Is this a compile time option or is it buried down in some configuration file somewhere?
