|
|
Hi All,
I have been using grip to rip cd's for the past few months without problem. Since last night, however, every time I attempt to rip a CD the system locks up hard. This always happens right at the beginning of the ripping process.
Since the last time I've attempted to rip a CD, I've upgraded KDE from 3.4 to 3.5.2. I also updated device-mapper last night before I tried the rip.
Does anybody have an idea what this could be? I know I haven't provided a lot of information, but I'm hoping somebody might have a clue as to what could cause this.
Thanks! |

Hi,
Can you tell me what cdrom device file you're using (Config tab in grip), and then do an "ls -l /dev/that_device_file".
What ripping method are you using (Built-in cdparanoia libs, external cdparanoia....)? |

Thanks for the response. grip is attempting to rip from /dev/cdrom. An ls -l shows that it's a link to /dev/hda, owner and group is root, permissions are 777, and device number 3.
According to the config tab of grip, the ripper is grip (cdparanoia).
Thanks for your help! |
