Hi everyone,
I'm trying to install Gentoo on my laptop. I managed to do so, but I can't get my internet connection working so I need some help.
I have only a ppp connection with Speedtouch 330 modem at home so I need to install Gentoo from the Live CD. I know how to set up my modem in linux, but Gentoo seems to lack support for ppp connection "out of the box". I don't seem to have pppd installed.
Is it possible to install pppd from the live cd? If not is it possible to download the package with my other computer and then install it locally?
I would be pleased if anyone could help me with this or refer me to a howto.
I'm really looking forward to the Gentoo experiance.
Thanks
A

Well I installed again. This time with ppp included in the packages. But I have a new problem:
I dont seem to have linux-atm package installed. Does anyone know if I can get this installed from the live cd?

Ok, so I answer my own question again. I did yet another clean install with ppp and linux-atm added as extra packages and I got the internet connection working. In fact I'm writing this from my new Gentoo system.
