I think I fried my mobo and processor but not sure. It's a Via board set as a server
services include
NAT
routing
NFS
SAMBA
PPTP
SSH
CUPS
CVS
I think I overtaxed the little guy by reading files via SAMBA, writing files via nfs and running an emerge sync all at one time.
The system froze (completely) and the case was piping hot.
Since then the system has frozen up 5 times in 9 days. Previously it had run 2 years pratically non-stop with 1 crash.
I've review the /var/log/messages nothing gets written before freeze up.
Just wondering if anyone had thoughts or ideas to help me confirm that it's the mobo and processor before I plop down the change to by a new one.
Thanks a bunch _________________ AMD Opteron 140

Sounds like it's overheating. If it has a fan, check if it is full of dust. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

Checked that, there was a little so I cleaned it out.
After the 2nd or 3rd crash.
I opened up the case removed the dust and added another case fan.
IT seems to run cooler now but it still freezes, particularly when there's a fair amount of io.
I'm thinking a melted a tranisistor or something. _________________ AMD Opteron 140
