when I run

smbclient -L localhost
Error Connecting to 127.0.0.1 (Connection Refused) Connection to Localhost failed

Why samba failed to connect to itself?[/code]

Are you sure that samba is started on localhost? I just ssh'd into a server and tried that, and it worked fine for me.
