|
|
Hi everyone! I'm having a problem with gnome 2.14. It doesn't list mp4 files as video/mp4 but application/octet-stream, which means it won't open directly in totem via double click and no thumbnailing for them, as they are listed in gconf as video/mp4. Can anybody tell me what do i have to change to make mp4 files apper as video/mp4?
I've tried editing the mime files but without any result.

I downloaded a sample mp4 and it comes up as
application/x-extension-mp4
With a thumbnail and double click goodness. It could be that you need a specific use flag.
Firstly, if you set it up to open with totem, does it work as it should? (ie right click on the file -> Properties -> Open with -> totem) |

I resolved it by creating a override mime type as specified in gnome documentation. Btw, what are your use flags? |

USE="win32codecs insecure-drivers mp3 video_cards_mach64 ppds joystick unicode opengl aac acpi asf theora hal dbus tune mysql zlib mmx "
I'm pretty sure the aac use flag is for mpeg 4. |

I also have aac in my use flags, but it doesn't make a difference here. |
