Hey guys I messed up my box again. Mozilla works fine but when I open galeon it will open up to my home page then it keeps opening tab after tab after tab. Last time it opened 96 tabs of my home page before I could log out. The only way I can get it to stop is to log out of gnome...
Here's what I tried so far :
1) I deleted everything in my home directory > this didn't help
2) I unmerged and emerged galeon > this didnt help
3) I erased everything from root home directory > I think this might have made it worse
4) I unmerged galeon, mozilla, gnome , depclean, then remerged them all again > this didnt help
This leaves me to believe that somewhere I messed up a configuration file and it is screwing up galeon. But I cant find out which file it is!!
I think I should just give up on galeon so I am using opera now, but I wish someone could help me fix this because galeon was cool.
someone please suggest something for me to try!! thanks |

- delete /usr/lib/mozilla/components/compteg.dat
- DON'T browse when you are root. Otherwise you will come in the same issue. |

you can still browse as root if you remove write permissions to the components folder after deleting the compreg.dat file. _________________ Linux registered user #95819 |
