Hi,
I want to get some pictures I took on a Sagem Z-55:

It can connect to the computer via a usb cable, but when I went to buy one in the shop the guy said that I'll need software to be able to get the photo's off of the phone. Does this mean that I cannot just mount it as a portable hard drive as with most proper camera's?
Thanks. |

My experience with the newer phones (i.e. Motorola RAZR, etc.) is that specific drivers are required to access them through the USB ports. I own a RAZR, and it is not Plug and Play. It requires a special driver to access the memory, hence it cannot be mounted like a portable hard drive or camera.
I'd bet yours requires a special driver too. You'll have to google the web to see 1, if a special driver is required, and 2, to see if someone has produced a linux driver. |
