Hey everyone. I've got a strange error. I use the madwifi drivers (see www.madwifi.org) for my wireless Atheros card. When I boot my laptop (see my .sig file for the specs), the ath_pci module is loaded by default. I then execute...

Code:
russell me # modprobe wlan_scan_sta
russell me # ifconfig ath0 up
russell me # wlanconfig ath0 list scan
wlanconfig: len < sizeof(struct ieee80211req_scan_result)

wlanconfig *should* output a list of available essid's. Instead I get that strange error up there. A google search turned up very little related to this error.

Here's what's weirder. Doing this...

Code:
russell me # rmmod ath_pci
russell me # modprobe ath_pci

...solves the problem 8O . wlanconfig ath0 list scan then outputs the available essid's and I'm good to go.

Does anybody know why this is happening, and why rmmod-ing and modprobe-ing solves this? Anybody had this happen with other modules? Any input would be appreciated.

I figured out the problem here, and thought I should post the solution in case anybody else ever encounters this problem. I had added "ath_pci autocreate=ap" to my /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 file. This should have read "ath_pci autocreate=sta". Now I don't need to rmmod && modprobe and everything works fine. Thanks to anybody who thought about this for me.
