Hi.
I am really getting frustrated with printing using CUPS on a network. We have a JetDirect printer that is also configured on a Windows share. I can set up the printer both ways and it works. That's not the problem. The problem is that CUPS wants to automatically configure the other printers on my network, and it seems to randomly pick one of them as the default printer, no matter how many explicit lpadmin -d commands I give it. Looking at lpstat -s, I can see that CUPS is "going into" the other windows shares on the network and finding the printers!
I found in smb.conf an option to supposedly enable this behavior, but when I commented it out and restarted smbd, nothing changed. I know the solution is probably stupidly simple, but I don't know what it is. If I delete or disable the unwanted printers, they just pop up again in a few seconds. The CUPS documentation and FAQs are not helping either. _________________ I RTFM already, damnit, and the manual writer needs to be smacked. |
