Sto installando i driver proprietari per la mia scheda nvidia seguendo la guida dell'handbook.
Quando do il comando
localhost / # modprobe nvidia
il messaggio di output e' questo.
FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.16-gentoo-r9/video/nvidia.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
Da cosa puo' dipendere?

P.S. Ho controllato che il link simbolico punti alla directory del kernel, o almeno spero. Quindi posto anche un ls -l di /usr/src
localhost src # ls -l
total 4

Scusate, avevo dimenticato di postarlo nella fretta. La parte su nvidia e' alla fine ma dato che ci sono altri errori volevo chiedervi se potreste aiutarmi anche su quelli. |

io rimuoverei completamente /lib/modules/2.6.16-gentoo-r9/ per poi ricompilare nuovamente il kernel.
però è un procedimento un pò violento, magari qualcuno ha un suggerimento migliore..

che versione dei driver usi? con le ultime versioni del kernel ci vogliono quelli in testing

Il mio kernel e' 2.6.16-gentoo-r9 e uso genkernel.
I driver li ho presi da portage, penso siano l'ultima versione.
qualche suggerimento? ricompilare il kernel mi sembra un po' eccessivo |

L'ultima stabile o l'ultima presente? c'è una notevole differenza.... Come già detto ci vuole l'ultima versione mscherata con i kernel recenti. E in oltre c'è il "vecchio" problema dei devices non creati
