Play DVD ISOs on HTPC

Hello,

I am wondering if a program such as MythTV is capable of playing raw DVD ISOs, and if so, if there is a way to make a menu list of all of the available movies (even manually set would be sufficient, such as reading from a CSV), so the viewer can easily select the movie he or she wants to watch? Right now I play the raw ISOs in Xine, but must manually set the DVD device to read from the ISO (as opposed to /dev/dvd), and is not very useful when it comes to a dedicated HTPC.

Hmm why dont you just rip to vob and switch it to .mpg then you should be able to set up myth to point to the folders. This way the protection wont be an issue, if you have a good processor this shouldnt take long. Not to mention you can take off subtitles, extra languages you dont need, extra features your never likely to watch more than once.. and even compress it more, so you have more room for videos and the ability to burn it back onto a dvd-/+r.

Myth can playback ISO's (or VOBs, or MPGs, or anything else playable with ffmpeg) using mythvideo. You can set it up so that it calls Xine, or so that Myth's internal DVD player plays them.
