Two problems w/X, video & keyboard.

I'm having two problems wwith X - I'll describe the keyboard prroblem bbeecause it's my typiing excuse aas weell:

Every now and then, charaactters ddouble or triple aas I type. Do you haave an iidea where I should lookk to seee whhat the prroblem is? Itt's bbeen like this frrom the start. I don't havve the problem at all on the console. I've checked, it''s nott myy typiing!

The second probleem is video related:

I have a GeForce4Go and am using the NVdriver kernel module w/ nVidia's binary driver. It works, but for some reason, it won't display any resolution except 640x480, even if I set 1600x1200 as my only resolutiion in XF86Config. If you could point me in a good troubleshooting directtion....

This is my first go at Linux but I've used FreeBSD and OpenBSD a lot, granted mostly as servers.
