The documentation of what is left out when you use the "minimal" USE flag is quite sparse. Would it be a bad idea to use it when installing (i.e. emerging system)? Is the only way to find out to look in every ebuild that you're going to emerge?

USE="-minimal" emerge system -evp
That will show everything it will compile. |

I was under the impression that not only will the flag change what ebuilds are included but actually change how the individual ebuilds are compiled. Alright, that wasn't very clear, let me try again. Does the minimal flag only effect dependecies? |
