Hi all,

just a minor problem I've been trying to solve the last couple of days (before finally going here with a post of my own). I'm running gentoo (2.6.16-r7 kernel) with kde 3.5.3 and installed samba because I need to network between this computer and another one (windows xp).

Tried to set up a samba server to share files from this computer so I could reach them from the other, but it works halfly... can see this computer on the network but can't connect to it. So I though the other way around could be easier. Now the problem is when I'm trying to use smb:/ protocol in Konqueror and it says that the protocoll isn't supported. So what I want to ask is... what have I forgotten? Something I need to recompile to get the support?

Maybe this is more for the desktop forum but I dunno, a bit of both... thanks in advance!

You need kio_smb (provided by kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves or kde-base/kdebase with the "samba" use flag).
